Traffic throughout Austin will be even more dreadful this weekend than usual. The reason being Formula 1, and I am all for it…even with the extra time I get to spend in my car. Did you know that 111 million people watched the Superbowl last year? According to the Austin American Statesman, 500 million people follow Formula 1 throughout the season. I don’t know much about TV ratings, but that is a lot of viewers! Aside from the $100’s of millions that the race is suppose to bring in revenue to Central Texas; the lasting affect is that people throughout the world will be exposed to(and come to visit) our city, that most likely never would have otherwise. Will this have any sort of affect on the Austin real estate market? Not sure, but I bet it can’t hurt. In the short term, you have local companies such as Home Away, taking full advantage of the vacation rental market by creating a landing page just for this weekend. How many out of town race fans might rent a place this year, fall in love with our city, and decide to buy something to stay at for when they come next year? If this happens to be you, give me a call and I will be glad to give you a run down and welcome guide to everything Austin, including our great real estate market!
